Kalakunj Foundation was established in 2007 and reimagined with a renewed vision in 2020. Over the years, the organisation has expanded its work across education, women empowerment, health, livelihoods, environment, child rights and youth development.

Kalakunj has operated 5+ Community Education Centres in underserved communities, supporting children from Classes 1–8 through foundational literacy, numeracy and learning activities.

The CEC model emerged during the COVID-19 disruption when children in underserved communities faced limited access to digital education.
The initiative has included foundational literacy and numeracy, reading corners, digital literacy, libraries, creative activities and volunteer-led learning.
When women gain skills, communities gain strength.
